Recently, I had the opportunity to speak to one of our very first members, Helen Jones from Etobicoke, Ontario. 20 years ago, Helen picked up one of our brochures at her veterinarian’s office when her American Cocker Spaniel, Nicci was getting an annual check-up. She took the brochure home, read about pet insurance and thought it just made good sense. Helen told me that her friends “thought she was off her rocker but she didn’t mind, because she was the one paying the bills!”
It turns out that Helen made a great decision. When Nicci was 10, she was hit by a car. After an overnight at the emergency clinic and a few follow up visits, the Jones’ bills were adding up. Unfortunately Nicci didn’t survive the incident but we covered the majority of the fees, which made things a little bit easier for the Jones family.
After that experience, Helen decided that she “would never own another pet without having pet insurance”. After Nicci, she insured Buffy. Now Kerri, her 3 year old American Cocker Spaniel is part of the Petsecure family.
Helen has seen a lot of changes in her coverage over the past 20 years.
